Whirinaki Forest Guided Walks

located 1 hour and 30 minutes from Rotorua, Taupo and Whakatane, welcome to our  prehistoric Ngahere Forest, 

15 minute stop at our local Te Whaiti Marae, your local guide will give you a korero talk about the carvings on the wharenui, meeting house, before venturing  into the Whirinaki Forest, your first guided walk will be to the Te Whaiti Nui A Toi Canyon & Waterfall

1.50 - 2 hour walk.

Lunch will be provided, before the second walk,

Hangi a traditional meal that will be served in  rourou made from harakeke flax, with rongoa drink and other refreshments, vegetarian options available, be entertained from the locals singing waiata songs 

while you enjoy your kai food.

The second walk is to the H Tree, a mighty native tree shaped like a capital letter H, surrounded by history and rejuvenation,

then a visit to the Mangamate Waterfall ,a place of healing for us locals, before departure back to your accommodation .End of the day tours.

Night Life Walk 1.00hr Guided Night Tour through the Sanctuary Whirinaki Forest.

Just after dark, learn about our native night life in our Forest, your guide will stop at different points along the track where you can get a glimpse of our native bats flying above you and   other native species, there will be times when your guide will turn their flashlight off for you to see Glow Worms surrounding you, then the final point will be where you can hear and maybe see the New Zealand native Kiwi Bird.
